Well, I am home at last, feeling much better pain-wise. I'm worried that my BMs are frequent urges with gravitational pull when I stand up, race to the bathroom only for very little to come out. Please tell me this gets better as I can't be more than 15 ft from a bathroom at the moment?

Hey there, I did not experience this beyond the first few days - however, my surgeon said beforehand that it can take several months to adjust. So I expect this to get better for you, but have you checked with your medical team? Glad to hear the pain is improving - hang in there!

Usually, your rectum is developing capacity if you had a stapled anastomosis. What you are experiencing is common, and you will be lucky if it only lasts a few days. Symptoms that you are having commonly last weeks, assuming no critical narrowing. Read about "low anterior syndrome."

Yes, it will pass. I was like that a week or two after I got home. Hang in there; things will get better with time.
