I have never had it, but I guess I was supposed to. I have had my colostomy for 3 years. I can get it reversed, but I am terrified of going back to the hospital. I now have hemorrhoids, I think, because I have feces stuck in my anal tract. I get a pressure every time I have to have a bowel movement in the bag. Has anyone ever heard of this?

I get anal pressure like that. It's kind of like ghost limb syndrome. You're not hooked up, but the muscles in that area don't know it.

Angelica- As usual, you've written another interesting post. February 5th, 2019, was my reversal surgery after having an ileo for 6 months. I'm one of those fortunate success stories. Of course, things are different now, and I still have to be careful about what and how much I eat, as I don't have a colon. At first, I was afraid to leave the house. My biggest fear was having to use a public bathroom and have the toilet not flush! Even now, when I know that I'll be in someone else's home, I won't eat anything beforehand. I read other people's stories and sometimes feel guilty for having had it so easy, not to mention that I have a significant other who is 100 percent supportive. I've gotten so much out of this website and truly feel for those of you who have it so much worse than I. But I feel it necessary to let folks hear about the success stories.

Hi there, even though you have an ostomy, if you still have your rectum, you will pass mucus and sloth. Your rectum is constantly making mucus and sloth. It's the body's natural way.

I have to wear a pad and change it a few times a day in my underwear because of this clear, spit-like fluid that keeps leaking out of the anus, and I really want it to stop, but I don't know how to get it to stop. Does anyone know if there's a way to stop this?

Aqua, no, there is no way to stop it; well, the only way is to have your rectum removed. As I posted earlier, your rectum will continue to make mucus and sloth.

I went for 4 years with no discharge, then had botched gallbladder surgery, and lo and behold, mucus streams out on a regular basis. I find that if every time I go to the bathroom I forcefully "shit" mucus, it prevents insane leakage during the day.

I hate the anal discharge more than my colostomy.

Three times a day, I have to poo out this stuff. Sorry, but I have to "massage" the anus to get as much out as I can.

I will never wear white bottoms again.

I do use the butterfly pads, and if I am going out for a long time, period underwear.

I talked to my gastroenterologist about this recently. Food is a problem. Nope. It seems a milk enema may help.

I just really hate this.
