Hi,

When I put the wafer on, I can't seem to get the tape to go on smoothly on my skin. There are always some wrinkles. How should I go about it? What I usually do is peel off just the top part of the tape on both sides and then, as I run my finger down, I continue taking it off. Should I take all of the tape off and stick it to my skin that way?

I also peel just the top part of the paper tape on both sides ahead of time, along with getting my toilet paper squares and hair blower ready, but I take the whole strip off once my bag is against my barrier ring and then press the whole sticky cloth down at once with four fingers. Sometimes there will be one wrinkle but the majority of it will be smooth. Does this make sense? I use convex Hollister one-piece bags.

Are you sitting or lying down? I lie down and get a wrinkle; others say sitting up is the way to go. Extender strips take care of my wrinkles. What I do is remove the first sheet and place the flange, then smoothly stick the top and bottom. Then I remove the backing from one side and try to smoothly attach that side and then the other. I can often get 10 days' wear time.

Wrinkles don't matter.  Avoid trying to stretch the tape while applying it.  I use Hollister 2 piece.  After warming up the wafer by holding it against my stomach, I peel off the main backing.  Fold the sides, place wafer over stoma.  Then push the top adhesive down, then bottom piece.  Peel off right side backing, stick it on.  Then left side.  Top, bottom, and right side lay down perfectly.  Since I have a parastomal hernia that pushes my stoma to the right, the left side always gets wrinkles.
