Flying is a worrying time for me; I dread having to change my bag during my time on the plane. No problem so far, but my bag does inflate.

Welcome. I saw your profile. Cancer. So you have a system.

Please tell us what that is?

1 piece? 2 piece?

And the brand type.

How do you set the system up?

Sorry about 20 questions, but the more details given, the better and more accurate replies we all can offer.

You are concerned about flying and the effects it might have on the bag. Valid question.

Others who fly say no issues.

But you do prepare in advance for the flight.

I will let my brothers and sisters more accurately answer the prep question.

I can just say if you are ballooning whether flying, driving, etc., you may need to seek a better diet.

For example, I no longer drink milk; dairy products have that effect on me. I love milk but...eh.

Also, sodas affect me that way too.

Now, this is me saying that. Others may not suffer that from their diets.

One mantra you will see written here is "no 2 people are the same."

That goes for diet, certain foods, drinks, systems, like appliances, adhesion issues with products not sticking, weeping skin around stoma.

You get the idea.

When the time comes through trial and error using a system, you stay with it.

Appliances made by Coloplast, Hollister, Convatec all have pros and cons.

The people - members - will offer their advice and suggestions with what works for them.

Do take note of their

experience.

In time, that ballooning you suffer will be a faint memory.

Learning curve every day.

Welcome wagon on the way. Welcome aboard. 👋

Hello everyone!!!

It has been almost a year since joining this site. I just wanted to share. I know a lot of people get concerned about meeting someone on here. I'm not a lifer membership and I had someone initiate to take me out. I've been divorced since 2009. He lives in Chicago. I ignored the first time thinking he was joking. I live in Milwaukee. So a month later he sent me a message through this site saying he wanted to meet me. That was in April this year. I must say it was the best thing that could happen to me. We talk almost every day. We have so much in common. He comes up all the time to spend the day or weekend together. It really does make a difference when someone has an ostomy like you. Such understanding and we always have something to talk about. I want to share because sometimes people think it's hard to meet someone or they say this site doesn't work. I'm a testimony that this site does work. We are talking marriage this time next year. I will keep you posted.

Hi. Worry not. There are solutions. I fly often. Fear of an inflated pouch while flying, if you're not wearing a two-piece system, try it. Just head to the lavatory and burp out the pouch. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight 🍷

Never had an issue while flying with the bag inflating. 🤷‍♂️

Just start eating smaller, non-gas-producing or heavy-poop-producing foods before your flight if possible, or as someone stated, let the gas out in the bathroom as much as necessary.
