Anyone have a name for their stoma?
I let my daughter name mine so she felt a bit less uncomfortable around it, she named it squirt 🤣

Coming up to 36 years, I've never named the cute little fella. I know it helps some naming their stoma, and it's good for your daughter to be involved.

I suppose since I have it for the rest of my life, I better name it🤣🤣

My first loop ileostomy was named Ralph, after Disney's character "Wreck-It Ralph," because I have five grandchildren and wanted to lighten any questions they had. However, he lasted less than two weeks before I had emergency surgery. They moved the site and gave me a straight ileostomy, which I named Leroy, the baddest stoma in the whole damn town... LOL

I've had it done twice after having it re done in 2012 then 2013 but never named it. In some way I haven't been comfortable with it even though it had to be done

Nope. No name needed.

I often refer to it as an alien spud though, but that's not its name.

If you do some research, you will find this same topic elsewhere in a forum or title on here where quite a few have named their stoma. Some names are quite clever. 🤭

I don't use a name either but that thread is pretty amusing

I picked out a name for my stoma before I even got it, and at that time I didn't know people named their stomas. I have kept the same name, Briella, with all 6 of my ileostomies.

I named my ostomy "Kiah" to symbolize strength and resilience, qualities I admire deeply in both the name and my journey. With roots meaning “dawn,” “new season,” “new beginnings,” and “life,” Kiah represents the beauty and value of transformation, reminding me that even in challenging times, there is the potential for something remarkable to emerge.

First name was Herb. Mrs. B said I was an idiot.

Decided a different stomal nomenclature was required.

Thus: Cherry Bomb

It's red and explodes occasionally.

After my first stoma (colostomy), a surgeon at the hospital commented, 'nice rosebud', when he looked at it, so my stoma became Rosie.  Since then, I've had two more stomas, another with my large bowel, and the one I ended up with from a loop ileostomy.  It's kind of shaped like a lopsided oval, so Rosie doesn't really seem to fit anymore.  She has remained unnamed.

Named mine "Yak" for yakety-yak — loud, noisy sounds it made in the early months after my colostomy. A lot quieter now, but the name stuck.

But after 9 days, the desert turned to sea.
