Hello everyone, I was wondering if anybody had experience wearing overalls and the overall shorts. My thinking was with my ileostomy in my pouch situation where I always have trouble; it would work out good as far as being comfortable, especially seeing how I'm going to Belize in two weeks and I'm going to be wearing shorts a lot. I find that elastic waist shorts are great, but at the same time, if you put too much weight in the pockets, you are going to have them falling down on you. As far as other shorts and pants, tying them and tying the strings or the belt they're located underneath or by my pouch is a pain, and you know what? That's why I wear suspenders with one size oversized on my dungarees, which seems to work the best. But I thought that the overalls and the bib overall shorts would be comfortable, but I have to make sure that the waist and inseam are the right size. So any help or any suggestions or anybody that's had them, I would appreciate any input I could get. Thank you very much.

I wear Lucy and Yak dungarees (but obviously, they are for women). I wear a couple of sizes up so that there is plenty of room for me to be comfortable. Great all year round.

I think there is only one way to find out, and that is to try the clothing and see if you are comfortable. I have had my ileostomy for 28 years, and over the years, I have worked out what feels the most comfortable for me. I think my late parents were deeply disappointed when I started (now don't forget, I am a woman) to refuse to wear dresses or skirts - mostly because I'm just not comfortable in anything tight, and emptying my bag while wearing a skirt or a dress wasn't always easy. And since my husband doesn't really care what I wear, as long as I am comfortable, my parents didn't get an input.
But like Caledonia said, if you make sure there's plenty of room for your bag and you can move comfortably, wear whatever you want to.

Hi Phil, I wore overall shorts when I was down in Florida two years ago. They're perfect, cool for the hot weather, no pulling down with weighted pockets, and they really conceal a ballooning bag. They're a bit more involved when in the bathroom, but not bad.

Carry your stuff in a man bag instead of your pockets.

I'm guessing you tuck your bag into your pants? What's wrong with wearing cargo shorts with a belt to hold them up? Obviously, if you are tucking your bag into your shorts, that may not work. How about getting a wrap or belt to hold your bag? I highly recommend that guys (or girls) who wear belts look into LizardTail Belts. They are made from climbing rope, are totally adjustable, and not wide like regular belts. I wear one every day at work and when I wear cargo-type shorts.

I wear dungarees all the time now, short and long leg... Hammill and some other brands have a full front zipper for easy bag emptying!

Phil. I have an ileostomy, too. Pre-op I was down to 107 lbs (from 186). I used suspenders until I put on some weight. I'd stand up, and my jeans would fall to my feet! Try a Stealth Belt, horizontal. It will hold your stoma comfortably tight, and you can wear whatever you want. Your pouch will be out of the way. I can tighten my belt as much as I want. My icon is on the Highline Trl at GNP at 7,000 ft. My belt held it all in perfectly. Then I tried Avalanche Lake, a 730' climb.

I tried a hot tub, and the belt kept everything in place.
