Good morning or afternoon, wherever you are. I had my urostomy surgery in 2021. My stoma never came out, and it's recessed. Sometimes it is hard to get the base to adhere because it has nothing to hold onto. Does anyone know if I can have a surgery to pull the stoma out a bit? Or is it really not worth doing?

I also have a recessed stoma on my urostomy. My urologist has already broached the subject of having it pulled out. I haven't done it yet due to other health issues, but I plan to.

I believe this is called revision surgery, and it is my understanding that it's a fairly minor procedure.

Others will chime in with specific experience. I know some have had this done.

Hi there, yes, they can pull it out more. It's called revision, and I recommend you do it in your stoma if that is low. And you are having pouching issues. You don't want skin issues either unless you already do.

Evening/morning, as already mentioned, you can have revised surgery to bring the stoma out further. I'm not sure how it works in the States, but in the UK, I've known a couple of people who've had it done, and it's a minor operation that usually requires a long weekend in the hospital.
