Every time I use a bag for my Convatec, the filter leaks. It is on properly, so I'm not understanding why.

Hi Yankeegirl, could you put tape over the filter to stop leaks?

Hey there, yeah it's a common problem with ostomy bags, not just Convatec, other brands too. Have you tried filterless bags?

I just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a good holiday. I especially would like to thank this website and the folks that run it and keep it going. This site has been a life saver for me and I am so thankful I found it. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and Hanukka and if you don't claim either holiday, I hope you have a nice day. See you all next year!

I use a Convatec bag with no filter. In the last 4-1/2 years, I have had few issues. I have “test drove” bags with filters and had this same problem. I am unsure why one needs a filter. They seem to leak, or it seems some complain of smell. The little air release holes (charcoal and all) cause these issues…try a filterless bag….and if the bag fills with too much air, the remedy is to find a private place to release that air…not unlike a big ole' fart, in my opinion…you may want to try an airtight bag….jb

Just breathe. I don't know why they are making bags with filters when they get a handle on them to make them actually work without leaking or expelling odor.
