I wasn't thrilled with the idea of having to throw my ostomy pouch in the trash and having a trash bag fool of poo. my sister came up with a great idea. She told me to buy a Diaper Genie.
If it could hold a bunch of dirty diapers and keep odor out, then it should work for dirty ostomy bags as well. So I bought one from wall mart and gave it a try. I am pleased at how well it works. It can hold a lot of bags and keeps odor out as well.

I have thought about a diaper genie but haven't gotten one. I am glad to hear a report about how it works.  It does seem like an obvious solution. Thanks, Carol 'dawneagle'

This group has been my go-to during my loneliest hours whenever I've had a "bag blowout" at 3am and there was no one else in the world to talk to.

Because it's a global community, there's always someone here to lend an ear, provide advice, and just hold my hand if that's all I need.

Sure, there's also a lot of camaraderie, fun topics, and laughs, but the main reason I come here is for the total acceptance I get from the members. No one else on the planet could possibly "get" what I'm going through, not even my loving husband or supportive family.

The "Meet an Ostomate" forum is definitely a one-of-a-kind family, which I am very proud to belong to.

That is what I do too:  zip lock bags, cover pouch in tp first then zip lock bags.  That way you can easily take them with you and don't have to have a big diaper genie thing
