Dear all

I am new from Georgia, USA. Just two months after ileostomy surgery.

I have pain whenever there is juice or food in my system, mainly in the lower left part of the abdomen. I have a test showing there is no obstruction. I also have a gurgling sound in the lower left part where I feel the pain, and my lower abs are very distended and large during the day. They are normal size when I wake up in the morning. I have anxiety because of this. I want to share with you.

Is your ostomy on your left or your right? It might be that you have an incisional hernia or a parastomal hernia. It might also just be how you digest. Can you recline after you eat? Have you tried eating smaller meals more often rather than three bigger meals a day? You are still early on in your journey, and things could be a little uncomfortable for a while, but they should settle down. If not, speak to your ostomy nurse or your doctor about it. See what they have to say could be causing the problem.

It is hard to know without more information. Is it an end or loop ileostomy? Do you still have your colon? Is the pain on the other side from your ostomy? If everything is 'normal' in the morning, it sounds diet-related, but it's hard to know for sure. Two months in is still very early, and you are still doing some healing. Are you having regular output, and is it thick in consistency or thin and watery? Do you have an ostomy nurse to consult?

Terry

P.S. Gurgling sounds are pretty normal; just part of digestion.

Two months post-op..?? Whoa..

Your body just went through a lot.. you might need time for things to settle. What Terry said.... pain requires a call to the doctor or stoma nurse.

No output also.. but noises.. trapped air? Gas? Not sure I'd be drinking juices or eating fruit.. right now. Nope. Not me. Not this soon..

Body will adjust to the
