Just saw the PA who assisted the surgeon with my revision and discovered the reason that I have both an innie and why they didn't repair the parastomal hernia - they could not find the fascia that they would fasten it to! Guess my fascia was really torn up during the emergency surgery in 2023 that started my saga and has basically gone into hiding 🙈 Anyway, I am healing, but she wants to see me again in about 3 weeks to make sure I am completely healed, as there was still blood in the output and from the stoma itself. The use of the Eakin cover REALLY helped my skin, and she showed me how to not only put it on as close as possible to my stoma, but she showed me how she could manipulate and stretch the back sticky part of the appliance itself so it would more accurately fit my stoma. Finally, a doctor or PA who knew more than me! Healing takes the time that it takes, and that is what I take away from all this. It was a little ouchie putting the Eakin on and a little ouchie putting the device over it, but I'm guessing that is because the ouchie part was where the bleeding was mostly happening.

Good update. Glad you're making progress and learning a little more about ostomy appliance fitting. Take it slow and easy. Healing takes time.

I have learned a lot from this site. People are willing to share things that has worked for them,  Things like supplies, skin care, different surgeies, blockages, and a lot more.

Glad to hear you're healing up. I'm sorry they couldn't do everything you were hoping for, but I find it encouraging that they didn't try to force a situation that wasn't working. It sounds like you have a great doctor.

Now get some rest; the worst is over.
