I had my loop ileostomy refashioned in August due to it retracting, less than a year since, and they're thinking about redoing it again for the same problem! Has anyone else had the same experience as this?

Hi there, yup. I had 2 revisions and 4 relocations in a year. Sounds like it's in a bad spot if it retracted again. And since they already tried a revision in that spot and it didn't work, and you don't want to have another revision in the same spot, the hole will end up being too big. Sounds like it needs to be moved to another spot.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, messages, and tips! So many have helped! We are learning as we go, learning the ins and outs of this bag. I have ordered special tape that does not irritate my skin and am now using Domeboro powder before putting on a new bag. My boyfriend says that my skin is so much less red!

Saw an ostomy nurse today; she said my boyfriend is doing everything right. One of my issues is that I am really thin, and my skin is really crinkly due to the surgery. We shall see how this bag goes.

This site is a real blessing. Everyone here is so awesome!

My thoughts exactly; the only problem is I'm only small-framed, and on the left side is my scar from my colostomy, so I really don't know where they will put it.

I am small-framed too, and trust me, there are other places. I have had a stoma in every single spot they can put one, right and left side. I've been higher, mid, and low on both sides. They will probably have to move it higher up. They can go higher on the right side or higher on the left side. You still have places to choose.

Oh, that's reassuring. It's so annoying having all these surgeries, and you think it's going to be the last, then more problems occur.
