Does anyone know of a good Android app for keeping track of food intake, output, exercise, and weight loss? I am trying to lose weight and would like to limit my output at night (when the appliance is not hanging down) in order to limit leaks at night? Thanks.

If you want to lose weight, don't eat as much and do some exercise.

I know those with ileostomies are a bit weirder 😁 than those with colostomies, and tracking that stuff may differ depending on what you have, so getting answers may help or hinder you on this one. For me, I've adapted the Japanese approach to eating, and that has helped a lot with output amounts. I get very little output when I sleep, usually because I don't eat that much at night (I sleep during the day because I work overnights). I eat; I pay little attention to what I eat from when I get up until roughly 5 p.m. Works for me; may not work for you, as I know a lot of ostomates need to eat much more frequently because they digest way faster than I do. You don't really need an app; just write it down in a notebook and go from there. Good luck.

Hello everyone!!!

It has been almost a year since joining this site. I just wanted to share. I know a lot of people get concerned about meeting someone on here. I'm not a lifer membership and I had someone initiate to take me out. I've been divorced since 2009. He lives in Chicago. I ignored the first time thinking he was joking. I live in Milwaukee. So a month later he sent me a message through this site saying he wanted to meet me. That was in April this year. I must say it was the best thing that could happen to me. We talk almost every day. We have so much in common. He comes up all the time to spend the day or weekend together. It really does make a difference when someone has an ostomy like you. Such understanding and we always have something to talk about. I want to share because sometimes people think it's hard to meet someone or they say this site doesn't work. I'm a testimony that this site does work. We are talking marriage this time next year. I will keep you posted.

I use Mapmyfitness to log all of that stuff.

Kenneth, I use Nutritionix Track on an iPad. I think it has an Android version as well. The app was recommended by the dietitian at the cancer center where I'm being treated (unrelated to ileostomy). I find it easy to use, and it has a super huge database of foods. Let me know if you try it and how it works for you. Good luck with your goals!

Alex, good for you if a notebook works for you! My engineer husband did it that way religiously for 5 years, losing 70 lbs and maintaining it. He is happily using an app now. Writing it down is a royal PIA for me. The advantage of a good app is that it will find all the nutrients for the menu item, do the calculations for you when your serving is different from the standard, and provide a simple graph of both daily intake and weekly/monthly goals. As we often say here, every ostomate is different.
