Hi folks,

Wondered if it was okay to jump rope with an ileostomy? What precautions were taken?

Thanks for your feedback. Jack D.

Hey Jack,
Yes, it's definitely possible to jump rope with an ileostomy—I've been doing it for a while. A few things that really helped me: I wear a snug ostomy support belt to keep everything stable, empty the pouch beforehand, and start slow to see how my body responds. Listen to your body and build up gradually. Everyone's comfort level is different, but with some care, it's absolutely doable.

Yes, there are no problems, and it's one of the best and free cardiovascular exercises you can do. The only problems occur for women with large cleavage.

Not without some support to hold that puppy from bouncing! Remember, not only does “shit happen,” but worse yet, “hernias happen!”

Yes, you can jump rope with an ileostomy. I would suggest you wear a support belt. But there is very little you can't do with an ileostomy.

I never kiss and tell, lol. As soon as I saw this post, it reminded me of an ostomy friend a few years ago using a skipping rope and hula hoop. What a sight to watch, lol.
