I have a temporary stoma, and I had a scope a few weeks ago. My doctor informed me that I have an
anastomotic leak. Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

That's quite serious. What is your doctor doing about it?

Well, I guess it could be in a part of the bowel that is currently being bypassed... so maybe not an emergency, but it might delay your reversal.

I'm dealing with a fistula draining into my pelvis. So I have similar risks but a different cause.

Your surgeon needs to explain more to you and give you an action plan. You might consider a second opinion at this point too.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this.

Every morning when I enjoy my big cup of coffee I scroll through this site and this warm feeling just overwhelms me.

I never post anything (too shy and it feels like I don’t have anything of interest to share tbh) but I sure read a lot of posts from you guys and they are so informative, supportive encouraging and so so full of love and a big dose of humor.

I feel like part of the best family in the world (even though I am just sitting quietly in the corner lol).

I just wanted to share that feeling and say thanks to all of you for being so wonderful.

And also, please keep some fingers crossed for me this week. I have my blood test on Thursday, checking my CA 125 levels. Ovarian cancer reoccurrence fear unlocked again. I hate it!

Lots of love from Sweden

Very helpful

They must have given you more information than this. A minor leak is treated with antibiotics and usually heals itself. A larger leak will require a different solution. You don't say if this is impacting your health.
