I've had sleep issues for the past 5 years since I had an ileostomy first and now a colostomy. Has anyone tried the gummies to help with sleep? I'm considering trying them, but I've got some concerns. First and foremost, I'm a little worried about waking up. I'm worried about sleeping for 19 hours and waking up a day later. Exaggerating a little, but I am worried about that. Has it helped anyone here? Thanks to anybody for helping me.

Hello

For me, liquid magnesium is added to my daily water bottle.

Yes, I've heard magnesium helps!

Hmm, interesting topic. A show of hands, ✋️ who has slept through the night with either an ileostomy or colostomy?

Speaking for myself, I do not get enough sleep with 3 a.m. empty needing to be done. I dare say we ileos adjust over time.

Taking anything to help sleep? No thanks. Three words: bed/mattress protector sheets.

And then... uh oh... 🎤🎵 everybody must get stoned 🎶

Hey Jalrein, I've been having trouble lately falling asleep after waking to empty my bag. I've been resisting trying gummies - had my THC fun many years ago but not wanting the high anymore. I actually just caved about three weeks ago and started half a gummy that's a combo of THC, CBD, CBG, and CBN - lots of anti-inflammatories. Made by a company called Wana, and the strain is aptly called “Stay Asleep.” No high, just much deeper sleep. I'm sorry I waited this long. Now if I can just get more control of my nightly migraines, I'd sleep even better 🤷‍♀️.

Raises hand.🤚 I sleep through the night with my colostomy.

Colostomies aren't as high maintenance as ileostomies. The urostomy has a night bag which helps since there are no bodily needs to wake me up.

I also use a marijuana gummy to sleep. Select carefully to get one that helps with relaxation and sleep. The people in the dispensaries here are very helpful. There's also a lot of info online.

Check dosages carefully. I cut most of them in half. Best to have a 1:1 THC:CBD ratio. Terrible for getting high but great for getting medicinal effects without getting stoned.

They are not as strong as a sleeping pill. I can and sometimes do wake up in the night. I don't oversleep. The effect wears off by morning.

I just close my eyes and fall asleep, and wake up when I wake up.

Hello, what do you mean? Please reply; I would appreciate it so much. Thanks.

I heard it's important for all of us and B-12, and I do multi-liquid Mary Ruth.

I'm

going through burning and on antibiotics. Ahh, and I heard to try liquid CBD, not gummy; it can cause blockage. But how, I'm wondering? I'm afraid to do them, but try liquid a little at a time. I didn't try it yet, but I plan on it soon, Victoria.

I use them, and they help me immensely. I sleep very well for several hours and then wake up easily without feeling groggy.

I use them occasionally, especially if I'm having treatments and my anxiety is high. And sometimes just to feel a little better. It seems the dispensary staff do know what works for sleep and relaxation. I never did use it much as a younger person, but it helps me now. It also helps with improving appetite. I haven't seen any harmful effects. I am careful with the amount and start slow with anything new. They keep changing their products! Sleep is a wonderful thing!😊

I take magnesium for migraines, but it helps with sleep too. I never tried weed gummies; I don't think I would. It might make me sleep too much or wake up with the munchies and eat everything in sight. LOL There are many things that can help with sleep besides weed gummies. Have you tried melatonin? Have you tried any over-the-counter sleep aids? If not, try those first. You can also get sleep meds from your doctor if you find you need extra help. I take Belsomra for sleep, and I am able to get up at midnight, empty my bag, and go back to sleep, then get up at 5 or 6 to take my thyroid pill and get up at 7 a.m. for the day. So there are options that work. You have a lot of options—things you can try.

I get up at midnight to empty my ileo bag, and I go back to sleep afterward. I take Belsomra at 15 mg a night. When I took 20 mg, I had trouble waking up to empty, but at 15 mg, I wake up, empty, and go back to bed. Usually, I'm back to sleep in 10 minutes. I'm up again at 5 or 6 to take a pill, then lay down and rest for a while until 7 when I get up for the day. I don't think anyone with an ileo can sleep through the night and not have to get up and empty their bag at least once. Otherwise, the bag would be full when they got up in the morning and possibly leak. I sleep with a pad on my bed just in case of leaks. I don't really have them much anymore, but I have it just in case. It saves big messes if there were to be a leak.

I have a jellyfish lamp. No bad side effects, no calories, and it's pretty. It keeps the nightmares away too. Mine came from Amazon.

I take them and sleep well. I take a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC. It doesn't make you stoned, but relaxed. It takes about 40 minutes to take effect for me.

Dylan fan for over 60 years. He lost his voice 25 years ago, but is still touring. Ileostomy. Yeah, I get up about the same time to empty. I tried eating a large late lunch and a snack at 6 PM. Sipped small amounts of H2O and Indica. Emptied at 10 PM, took Tylenol PM, and slept for seven hours. Felt weird. My bag made it till the AM! I used Chux, less sweaty. Changed to Convetec and no leaks in about three years. The booklets I got at Mayo suggested this eating pattern. It's inconvenient, but it works.

Hi, I make my own medible for sleep. 7 g indica - 3 g lavender, finely ground (I use my coffee grinder) cooked in 1 stick of butter at about 300°F for 90 minutes to activate the THC, mix with 1 cup of peanut butter, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, add the cooked product to 1 cup of powdered sugar. Beat until smooth and well incorporated. Dose: 1 tablespoon.

I use them every single night. I find that it calms my ileostomy enough to sleep and not be active. I have been trying to use Immodium to control my flow, but it hasn't really helped. I have taken 4 at a time, and it only slows it for a couple of hours if I am lucky.

So with all that said, I don't wake up with a weed hangover, and I am mostly well-rested. I would recommend starting with a small dose and going from there. I hope this helps, and the best of luck to you.

@ thegonzos - I thought an ileostomy has a mind of its own. Mine does. I swear it's just a Niagara Falls type of output. It was so bad 3 or 4 times to wake up to empty liquid waste.

Found it hard to work at my job the next day.

Enter Imodium. Whoa. For some, it works. For others, not so much.

For me, a game changer. And I take 1 tablet before or after I eat. It doesn't stay in your system, so you have to keep at it.

For me, 1 tablet 3 times a day like that keeps me balanced. Just 1 wake up at 3 or 4 a.m.

8 years with this alien spud - never capable of a good night's

sleep.

I'm living with an ileostomy here, been 4 years, still trying to adjust, CBD, THC is what I have used and it works in many ways, but whatever works best for you is best.

I’m six weeks postoperative with urostomy. On two occasions,  tried one half of a 5 mg gummy around dinner time to relax and found myself very sleepy by 8. I have sleep meds but I definitely slept better - straight through both times. I’m being careful because I don’t feel comfortable getting high right now but I would say they are worth trying.

Yes, there is no rhyme or reason my ileostomy just outputs all the time, I am extremely high output. I wish the Immodium worked but I really see little to no change so I am only using it for changing my bag.

I have tried marshmallows, gummies and everything else under the sun, but nothing seems to help with the high output.

Are u familiar with short bowel syndrome?  There are a few on here with it, saying the same thing u have said abt control.

A small intestine simply puts out. That's it's job but I'm told there is a valve between colons and if it's removed, as part of yur surgery, think Niagra Falls out put.

This is sbs....

Someone on here will offer advice on bulking up.

I'm sorry the imodium doesn't help much. I have heard people taking up to 6 tablets daily and more to get some kind ofslow down control. .

Our family doctor recommended 10 mg of indica to help sleep.  Both my wife and I take it and it does help.  You may still wake up but it helps you get back to sleep sooner and generally relaxes.  He stressed to buy chocolate not gummies as the former have accurate levels of thc whereas the later may vary.  I highly recommend Euphoria Extractions.
