Just came across this little suction cup. Thought it might be good for getting out of the shower, drying off, and changing the appliance.

Not sure if it would hurt the stoma? Is this something new, or has anyone tried it?

I've not seen it before. Sort of tempting for my urostomy that is basically always out of control.

Thanks for the link. It's authentic. I am confused about his process, though.

Using paste, I understand. No ring is needed. But he really chokes the stoma.

The little suction pump looks neat, but when I touch my stoma, it bleeds. He has a little stoma.

That tool wouldn't fit over my stoma. Hopefully, it comes in different sizes...

Also, for the heavy squirt stomas, I'm not sure how well that thing will stay on. Creating a suction would pull anything out...

An empty toilet roll will do the same thing. You have to allow an exit for the poop or pee...

From the stories I have heard about some stomas, they are volcanic.

I'm not keen on smothering the stoma perimeter. What about expansion? And he slaps the bag like that. Whoa-

Badass. 🤭

That works for him. Good.

Thank you for your quick reply. I'll discuss irrigation with my doctor. I'm sure it would be down the road. My output is still very liquid. It's all so unpredictable at 6 weeks post-op. I have such a fear of constipation as I struggled with this forever. I used a fiber source to thicken the stool but it hasn't helped very much. I guess I will continue to be positive but it is a bit of a pain. This website is great and everyone is so informative. Cheryl

Yeah, I am a little leery about putting suction on my stoma. But getting out of the shower, it would be nice to attach so I wouldn't need to dry off with one hand.

I am not too happy about it attaching directly to the stoma. I made this little device for when I get out of the shower to be able to use both hands to dry and also stop any output from making a mess of the bathroom.

Made from the ring of the Hollister bag and glued a plastic container to it. Just cut the bag away from the fitting.

Why do you have to dry off with one hand?

Comes in 2 sizes according to the site, $20. I've never used paste, but it would seem easier to put on your wafer first and then just “work” it in when you put it on. 🤷‍♂️

You need a tan. 😁

That looks like a simple idea, thanks Iggie. I think I will try it.

He's using it to hold the phone while talking to Dr. Venkatesh!

I thought the same thing - that suction cup didn't fit all around his stoma and was pressing into it. 😬

It really is a good concept for active ostomies, having something that sticks to the skin, but I'm leery of the suction action against a stoma. I change my bag and shower without it as soon as I get up when it's quieter. I also put a piece of toilet paper over it as soon as my old bag comes off. Successful 99% of the time.

I am not at all tempted by my colostomy. I can manage that with TP or paper towels. If it erupts as it has sometimes done in the past, that little suction cup isn't doing squat. The whole thing would blow off or leak everywhere anyway.

I am still tempted by the urostomy. It's little (13/16 inches or 20 mm), so the device could contain the whole stoma. It never stops output no matter how long I go without water, and the output is relatively low volume (just enough to make me need to keep cleaning the skin).

It looks like the device would need to be emptied and cleaned after each use, making it a one-time investment.

Like the rest of you, I'm not too sure how I feel about the suction on my stoma.

It's basically a baby's pacifier.

I mean without the finger holder gizmo.

The pacifier would be a King Kong sized one for me😄.

I'd beat my chest! Apologies to King Kong. 🦧🐒🐵
