“I CAN RESIST,” mused Oscar Wilde, “anything but temptation.” I met that same devil this past week in the otherwise innocuous form of Jelly Belly beans. Geez, they’re good! I overindulged, then paid the price. Perhaps Wilde had similarly discovered how difficult it can be to just eat a few of some delicacy. Still, he didn’t have an ileostomy. My system threw a fit. It lasted through the night and into the next morning. I had to do a change-over after I got up with a bulging balloon on my belly. Jelly Belly indeed! After all these years, you’d think I’d have more sense. But noooo. I had my run-in with the dreaded temptation, and it took me to the woodshed. My moans of pleasure turned into moans of pain. Cheapskate that I am, I paid the price and left a large tip. Alas, my system finally subsided, leaving me with dueling memories of my love affair with Jelly Belly beans.
