I need to find a way to cover my ostomy bag so I can wear trousers. I have tried one type—the bag goes in a pouch that has a zipper top and bottom with a Velcro belt. The belt causes a leak each time I use it.

Is there a solution?

Try a tummy sleeve from a maternity shop. It works for me.

Wrap from ostomysecrets.com

This site is a godsend. As a newbie (colostomy on Nov 8, '21), I look at it every day for a number of reasons. Reading what people are going through makes me grateful that my elective surgery because of a severe case of IBS-C is nothing compared to what they have been through and are still living with.

I don't have to go to the hospital for anything related to my ostomy. I feel sorry for those who do and am in awe of those who can use humor to describe their ordeal. I identify with those who express their fears. I especially identify with those who are depressed because I am clinically depressed and have general anxiety disorder. How ironic that having a colostomy eliminated some of the depression and anxiety that the IBS created. I've been widowed twice and I'm on match.com.
I immediately included my operation in my profile and am pleased to say it doesn't seem to make a difference.

And there is much humor on this site and it's one of the reasons I enjoy it so much.

I could name numerous things I've learned from reading people's comments/questions/answers.

After months following on a daily basis, my only negative comment is I don't like listing the most popular members.
It's not that I don't like these people; I do. It's that I think it elicits some "Facebook"-like banter or comments that are gratuitous.

I don't do any social media and think that its merits are overshadowed by too much negativity.

Meetanostomate is in no way negative. I just think the gallery of "popularity" detracts from what is an excellent website that deals with a serious issue that causes a myriad of emotions.

I got a nice garment on Amazon that could be unisex. Corsinel stoma-safe plus ostomy support garment. It is very comfortable with no zippers and lightweight material.

If you can sew (or know someone who does), you can make a simple bag cover in the same color as your trousers. I made a black one, which I wear most of the time, regardless of my pants color. With my shirt left untucked, the bit of black hanging below the bottom of the shirt is barely noticeable. It just looks like a shadow.

Some people tuck the ostomy bag into their pants, but I haven't found a good way to stop the waistband from cutting off the flow to the bottom of the bag. It works better if your trousers have more of a wide stretchy yoga-style waistband.

Other people have mentioned folding up the bottom half of the bag and securing it with a binder clip, but I have too much output for that to work for long.

The band/wrap idea mentioned in posts above also works well, especially in cold weather when it's appropriate to wear layers.

I have this as well, and out of probably 10 wraps, etc., I have ordered, this one works best for me and is the most comfortable.

Thanks to you all for the suggestions.

I leave the trousers unbuttoned, add suspenders (braces), and wear an untucked shirt or a shirt with a vest.

I've been doing this for nine years due to the surgeons installing my stoma at the belt line. It was rather an emergency situation—colectomy immediately or death. A very easy decision.

It's very comfortable!

Very similar to what Skee says. I go up a size on trousers and wear braces (suspenders). It helps if you can find some trousers with a higher belt line and possibly some elastication, also not a tight fit across the front.
