Are there any people out there with a K pouch? I love this site and all the stories, especially Henry's musings. But I feel alone on this site.

Hi Bumba, I used to belong to an online group "j-pouch.org," and there were some folks on there who had a K-pouch. I do seem to recall seeing at least one person on here with one, too. Hold tight, and maybe you'll hear from them.

After I got my ostomy I found this site and got a lifetime membership. I have had so much help from the core members, things that even the wound care nurses didn't know. If you haven't been through this journey you don't know - only the people that have experienced this first hand truly understand what your going through. The support is enormously helpful getting through this. Afterwards when you start to learn how to deal with this new normal you can begin to help others.  ...mtnman.

Well, that is almost the same. I had my K pouch before BCRI was invented, I think. I don't have any questions or issues. Doing great with the K pouch for more than 30 years. Just was curious how many are on site. Thanks for replying.

Hi,

Yes, I have had a K pouch since 2000. Although I was told that complications did happen about 30% of the time, I had been worry-free until 2 months ago. Now they have found some issues with the valve as it seems to be restricted, causing problems. I was told last week that they no longer revise K pouches as the rate of revision complications is too high. I am now contemplating going back to a standard ileostomy. Do you have questions or just want to see if anyone else has your issues? I've been very happy with mine.
