Hi all, I hope everyone is keeping well.

Having used the Braun IryPump for close to 15 years when they announced they were discontinuing the product (likely due to a lack of profit), I'm sure you can imagine the concern and uncertainty that was presented.

Five years on, I am still using it and it's just about running, although products are very low.

As far as I'm aware, there's not an alternative on the market as of yet.

I've never tried a gravity system and I'm not overly keen on the idea from what I've researched. Does anyone still use the pump or have any knowledge of a mainstream alternative?

Hello SuperMario.
I could never get on with the Braun IrriPump because there was never enough water in it for my needs. However, I did review the product some years back and did not fault it for its innovative design and practicality.
I was 'sold' on the concept so for a while I was using an adapted camping shower, until it simply stopped working. I then adapted a garden sprayer that pumped the water out just as well and has been much more reliable than the battery operated devices.
I think that (despite the high price), there is not enough profit in the Braun system for them to continue marketing it.
Making a DIY system is a fraction of the price and any 'profit' is aquired by the user.
Best wishes
Bill
PS: There is a photo of the camping shower device on my profile. - I should really get around to postying one of the garden sprayer. Perhaps that will be a job for later today.

I am scheduled for my reversal on 12/4. All my pre-admin stuff is completed and my GI signed off on the clearance letter this morning. I am super excited and looking forward to not having a bag. I just hope all goes well and heals well so I don't wake up with a temp bag which will lead to yet another surgery.

I have learned a lot from this website and will continue to be on here even after surgery. To all the ostomates out there, keep your heads up and keep pressing forward. We all have good and bad days. Best of luck to you all.

I will be sure to post my progress after surgery. I'm praying for you all.
