Ostoform FlowMax

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone uses Ostoform’s FlowMax barrier ring or Ostoform’s newly released wafer and bag system.

I have samples coming and am excited to try them. I would love to hear from anyone who is currently using them or have tried them.

I want to hear pros and cons!

I tried them just for shits and grins and wasn't real impressed. They're supposed to help keep output from getting under your barrier if your stoma is flush or nearly flush with your skin........but there's some issues. First, the actual ring it's attached to is pretty thick. So although you want the spout to be as close to your skin as possible, the thickness of the ring makes a 'ledge' of sorts where you output can sit and dwell......and seep behind the spout under your barrier.......defeating its purpose. The other thing is the spout is pretty small when you see it in person. So even if it does direct output over the ring it only does that when your standing or upright. When you lay down the spout is now on the left or right side of your stoma and your output is simply flowing over the ring where the spout isn't. I think if they made the ring much thinner or eliminated the ring altogether and put adhesive on the end of the spout that would then slide into your barrier hole it would work much better. And the spout should really be a bell mouth that covers the entire circle, not just the bottom part. Hey.......it's definitely worth trying........don't let me disuade you in any way........it's just that for my situation it didn't really work as intended.....but it must work for some people or it wouldn't still be available! Let us know how it works for you.
