Hello. I have had my ostomy since 7-3-25 due to bad docs missing perforated diverticulitis. Changed insurance in time for emergency surgery. First colonoscopy in prep for reversal 12-22-25. I am so anxious over the prep today with closed bags. Have 2 that empty from hospital stay of 17 days. If anyone has any tips on getting through the prep please share. Thank you!

I just had one last month and the prep was really easy. I did eat lighter the day BEFORE prep day and I think that helped. I use bags that can empty & just stayed home for the day. It was actually over pretty quickly and never had anything that came close to bursting out of the bag. My doc had me take 4 Dulcolax first, then a shit ton of Miralax dissolved in my choice of Gatorade. I watered down the Gatorade to make it more doable for me, and drank 2 half gallons of that stuff in 2 hours, which really prompted my intestines to clean themselves out. In fact, by bedtime, everything was all done and I slept great. Easiest colonoscopy in ages!

If you have any drainable bags switch to those. I normally use closed end bags but the drainable bag was essential to keeping up with the prep output.
