Hi bag friends! Can anyone share their experience with colostomy reversal surgery? I'm reaching my 6-month mark soon and meeting with my doc to discuss reversal, and I'm scared. It was mentioned there may need to be a temporary ileostomy, not sure why, or all could go well; he won't know until he gets in there.

Anyone have any advice or can share their experiences? Much love to you all, thanks!!

Every morning when I enjoy my big cup of coffee I scroll through this site and this warm feeling just overwhelms me.

I never post anything (too shy and it feels like I don’t have anything of interest to share tbh) but I sure read a lot of posts from you guys and they are so informative, supportive encouraging and so so full of love and a big dose of humor.

I feel like part of the best family in the world (even though I am just sitting quietly in the corner lol).

I just wanted to share that feeling and say thanks to all of you for being so wonderful.

And also, please keep some fingers crossed for me this week. I have my blood test on Thursday, checking my CA 125 levels. Ovarian cancer reoccurrence fear unlocked again. I hate it!

Lots of love from Sweden

Hey kid. Don't be worried or scared. Temporary ileostomy is only to extend healing times or because they may have encountered something that, while not major, just needs “extra time.” You can do it. Remember we're here for you! You got this.

Scared. I am 10 days away from my reversal surgery. I feel this word throughout my body and energy. My initial surgery was an emergency, and I'm finding with it being planned, I have time to get nervous. Yesterday was my last appointment before the big day, and it's really setting in that I'm in the home stretch. Next week is going to be really rough, mentally. The what if … I wake up with an ileostomy. At my initial appointment, my surgeon said 20%. After my colonoscopy, my specific evaluation was 10%-20%, and she felt more 5%. I'm fortunate to be otherwise healthy.

This!!!! Same boat love, I only ever got my colostomy due to a f-up that was done during a gyno-related surgery. Thankful they advised it's reversible and my prep appointment is next week, but I'm scared. The doc said the same to me; it could all go fine, or I could wake up with an ileostomy, or he won't be able to do anything. I appreciate him advising me of the possible outcomes, but I don't know what to do and I'm scared. Though I am trying to be hopeful that everything will 'go back to normal' in time. But also, what happens afterwards? I don't want to not be able to control my number twos. I'm just nervous about it all.

Thank you for your comment; we are not alone, clearly. XOXO

Keep me posted on how your appointment goes. While this is stressful, I'm finding some small comfort knowing someone is in the same boat at the same time.

I'm meeting with the colorectal surgeon this week, and man, am I nervous. I wish I was more excited, but I'm more scared about complications and what things might be like after.

Anyone have a successful good outcome with reversal they can share their experience?

Any specific questions I should ask the doc?
