I was born with an extrophy of the bladder in '64 and have had my urostomy since '71.  I'm looking for a specialist who could convert my urostomy into a continent diversion like Sweede's.  I'd ultimately like to get rid of old scar tissue and also get vaginal reconstruction due to my condition.  Where could surgeoens all do this?  Could it be covered on insurance in the USA?  Could I be a candidate if I have 3rd stage kidney disease and a history of kidney stones due to recurring UTI infections?

I believe in miracles!  Thanks for any info you can provide!!!

I was born with an extrophy of the bladder in '64 and have had my urostomy since '71.  I'm looking for a specialist who could convert my urostomy into a continent diversion such as the Miami, Indiana or Kock pouches.  I'd ultimately like to get rid of old scar tissue and also get vaginal reconstruction due to my condition.  Where could I find skilled, compitent surgeons to do all this without giving me excuses like:  "You have too many adhesions inside!  You're fine!  It's too much of a risk!"?  I know it can be covered by insurance, because with the ileal conduit, I'm getting too much reflux which is damaging my kidneys & I need help FAST!  I need to find a surgeon & nephrologists who won't be aftraid to operate on a healthy, 125lb, 5'3" female candidate who's had 3rd stage kidney disease and a history of kidney stones due to recurring UTI infections?

I believe in miracles!  Thanks for any info you can provide, Dr. Phil!!!
