In 2004 i had colostomy surgery due to ulcerative colitis and had some kind of fluid leaking from my rectum, they said this will go away in no longer than a year or two. well to this day i still have it coming out multiple times a day sometimes 10 times at the most. i have no control when it decides to come out, it looks like some type of infection, or something that would come out of a really bad zit. Keep in mind i have went to the doctor and asked them about this and they usually give me an xray and of course they say everything is fine or there is nothing there. ive even asked them to give me a sample cup so they can have it tested or to at least see that something is coming out. and i dont have a stoma nurse, never have actually. after surgery i was in hospital for about a month and then released basically learning everything on my own. just dont know why this stuff still comes out of me. my diet is fine and all that. so i dont know. keep in mind i dont have any type of insurance, because i cant afford it, really i cant period. and i cant get medicaid or medicare, because im between the ages of 19 and 60 and im not disabled. If i need to explain anything better feel free to ask

Hubz had a regular checkup with the oncologist on Friday (his numbers are improving), and as they were asking how he's feeling since surgery, they became curious about how he's doing so well with his ostomy, both physically and mentally. He credited doing research online, trying different things, and especially the support from this group. They were asking because they see so many patients struggling to adjust.
We described this group as folks with every kind of ostomy, some for days while others for decades, but all willing to share what's worked for them with the caveat that every individual is different.
We described the most valuable element as feeling like you're not alone in this. That really piqued their interest, and they wrote down the link. It seems they had a few people in mind that might benefit from the community and thanked us for telling them about it.
You know, we can't remember exactly who we learned about this group from, but we're grateful for it every day! Thank you all! 🌻
