Herbal Cleanse Question

Posted by BustedColon, on Sat Sep 07, 2013 7:00 pm
Since my surgery over 1 1/2 years ago I have not been keeping up with what we call a "good"
diet!  However I took a good look in the mirror and decided that I get things back together and start eating healthier and exercising more!  I have ventured down the path of Advocare becoming an Advisor and Distributer and have taken a lot of their energy and vitamin products.  What I have not taken is the Herbal Cleanse they make.  I have talked to my GI DR. about this and he seems to think that everything would be ok and that I shouldn't have any problems with it.  However I still have some reservations about taking it without hearing from someone in the same situation I am.  I had all of my Large intestines removed and ended up with and ileostomy.  My question is, has anyone out there taken any kind of herbal cleanse of since a surgery like that?

I've had my ileostomy for about 2 yrs and I'd be leary of taken any type of colon cleanse except water..ileostomy contents are liquid most of the time anyway ad it doesn't take long for anything we put in our mouth to get thru your system,,,not saying it would hurt u..if u try it post results then I might try it...good thought......as long as it isn't Gas producing!!

I'm not sure what your goal is using a colonic cleanser??  If you have no colon, what are you cleansing?  Nonetheless, I can't imagine harming yourself, but be prepared to empty you bag frequently and replenish your fluid intake. Good luck.

drink nothing but water for a day and no food and you get the same effect.

I think I agree with you Ron. Busted Colon....what's the point of taking a cleanse meant to clean out your large intestine if you don't have one? You might risk dehydration in the process.
Cleanses are usually meant to clean out the large intestine where the stuff sits for a long time. Nothing "sits" for a long time with an ileostomy......in case you hadn't noticed Wink)
