Hello and happy new year one and all. As some of you may have read in my blogs I have been suffering for the last 20 months with UTI's. Seen a urologist at my local hospital who said keep taking the antibiotics, I wasn't happy with this so asked  my consultant at another hospital I attaned for a second opinion ( I have a spinal injury). I seen another consultant in Glasgow, who said to go on a 3 month course of antibiotics and see how that works, unfortunatly it hasn't helped.. So back to the drawing board again. The plan of attatck now is to go and get a scan with dye inserted into kidneys to see how the urine runs out into my stoma pouch. The consultant is thinking two possibly three outcomes, 1 I could have a really bad infection that will need a massive course of antibiotics, which she thinks is probably  a very slight chance of. 2 there could be some crystals forming that aren't showing up on a normal scan or 3 the most likley one, the conduit carrying the urine from kidney to stoma has narrowed thus restriciting the flow of urine out and causing massive infections backing up the urinary tract. This would mean a full redo of my stoma operation.......................... Watch this space for more info<

Hi,

Not blowing my own trumpet or anything, but I was at the healthiest I had ever been prior to getting UC symptoms. I was eating very healthy and exercising 6/7 days. I'd love to know if any lifestyle factors affect UC, but I suppose I'll have to wait until they figure out what causes it.

I've been trying to occupy myself by being in contact with friends often, but some days I am really not in the mood and find it hard to drag my mind away from what ends up being a mountain of thoughts. I suppose it's all part of the learning process and I'm sure it'll happen less with time. This website has been great so far. It's great to be able to write this sort of stuff down and chat with people that understand what's going on. For that, I thank everyone on this website.

Thanks,

Hamish.

Hey BigP..why have you ended up in hospital, (if you don't mind me asking)? these damn UTI's can be painful and very frustrating. If you get one everything has to stop until antibiotics try and help, unfortunatly for me as soon as the anti's finish the infection bites again.

I've always been in massive extreme amounts of pain. The only thing that has ever eased it is morphine. Really horrible situation and usually quite scary at the time.
