Hi.
Im going to write an article about visiting amusement parks with a stoma.
Many of my closest friends have asked me if i really should ride the roller coaster because of my stoma. I always answer them that my stoma is not a problem.

That is how i think. But there is a few "rides" i don't ride because the safty device may press to hard on my stoma.
I alwas talk to the operator when i am trying a new ride about my stoma. Often they ask med to take a seat and they will close the saftey device carefully. If the saftey device start to press on my ostomy i just say that this is not going to work for me and they release the saftey device and im leave the ride.

I think many are afraid because they dont know if the bandage can handle it.
I always inspecting my bandage if i am unsure and dont wait to empty the bag. Visit a toilet and always have your bandage as empty as you can.
If its start to itch, go straight to a toilet and inspect.

I want to know what you all thinks about amusement parks and "rides". Is it a big NO or is it a GO (if you dare).

Some other information about me:
I am 30 years old and livs in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I have been using Coloplast Sensure 2-pice Click with the Xpro base.
My bandage is holding against everything i have been testing. Very happy with it.

Thanks for reading
/Hans

I am new colostomy patient. I have ridden many coasters before this procedure and have continued to do so. At first with reservation...but now with enthusiasm

You are so right.  I will never forget this website and the people who have helped me.  I had my reversal in January of 2014.  I try and come on this website weekly to see if I can help or encourage other individuals get through the day-to-day process of life.

Hello Ayngelle.  You are so fortunate to be able to go on roller coasters. It's something I've never managed without being sick and I don't think that's very fair on the other passengers. On the other hand - sky diving, parchuting ,hang gliding, paragliding, mountain climbing and many other sports I'm fine witrh and I certainly would not let a little thing like a stoma put me off.  Go out and enjoy yourself - whatever it is that you want to do.

Best wishes Bill

Now...I don't know if I could go skydiving....so you must have a strong stomach.  Life is so short so it is important that we doo things to enjoy ourselves as long as we do not harm anyone.
