Hi. New to the site. Posting for my husband. <

>
2.5 years ago he had emergency surgery due to perforated intestine. He had an ilestomy for about 3 months then had reversal surgery. The reversal seemed to be a harder recovery than the emergency surgery was. <

He is still in pain at the stoma site at 2.5 years out. He has gone back in for every test under the sun and everything comes back inconclusive regarding the pain. Some days the pain is "manageable" but he is in almost constant pain. He has been using Norco for pain management but the insurance company gives us issues on refills and we have some concern about using Norco for a long time. <

I guess we're just looking for help/answers on how long pain has lasted for others and possible pain management suggestions. <

Hoping to help find a better quality of life. <

Hello, sorry to hear about your husband's pain. For me, personally I have never heard of pain at the stoma site some 2.5 years after reversal. I have had my reversal for 2 yrs now and I do not have pain in the stoma site, now as for pain anywhere else that's a different story. I OCCASIONALLY will have a sharp pain in the incision stoma site but that is normal and I also have hernias all thru out my abdominal wall which add to the pain if I lift too much.Sometimes it takes a while before others look at the blogs, hopefully you will get answers from someone else. I'm curious myself about what would cause that kind of pain....
