Beets and Diarrhea with a Colostomy Stoma

Does anyone know if eating beets can cause diarrhea with colostomy stoma

Yes, It does for me. It has calcium oxalate so It can make stone in the kidneys. So i avoid to eat beets.

I think it is different for every person, so just try, and do so in moderation and see how it goes.  It will likley turn output red r black, so don't let that freak you out.

Great site..I have had an colostomy over 30 years..and have been thru skin rash around my stoma,hernias(2), leaks, odor control , needed clothing suggestions and this site has helped me with recommendations and many ideas worked!
I wish it was around 30 years ago. Thank you everyone!

I have had no problem with beets! Love them in the oven with a drizzle of olive oil or my husband canned some from last winter and we eat them often!
