Effective Home Remedies for Stubborn Poo Stains

This topic is all about finding effective home remedies and products to tackle those stubborn ostomy-related stains on clothes. If you've been struggling with both old and new stains and commercial stain removers just aren't cutting it, here are some helpful tips and tricks you might want to try:

1. Start with cold water. Pre-soak your stained clothes overnight in a small amount of water with a full cap of regular detergent.

2. Boost your soak or wash cycle by adding one of these:
- Clorox 2 (a non-chlorine bleach) or a generic borax-based bleach.
- Soda crystals, also known as washing soda.

3. Consider these pre-treat options before you launder:
- Wisk Away! Pre-Wash, which you can find in stores.
- A vinegar soak or make a vinegar paste.
- A half-and-half mix of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide (be sure to spot-test on delicate fabrics first).
- A foaming scrub made from baking soda combined with vinegar.
- Greased Lightning degreaser/spot remover, available in gallons at Home Depot.
- LA’s Totally Awesome all-purpose cleaner/degreaser, which you can find at dollar stores.
- AVON Bubble Bath applied directly to the spot, rubbed in, and then washed.

4. Try oxygen-based powders like OxyClean or OXI-CLEAN. Dissolve them in hot water, soak your garments overnight, and then launder as usual.

5. If you're in the UK, you might want to try Vanish. Add one capful and run a wash at 60 °C.

6. After washing, hang your items in bright sunlight. The natural UV rays can help fade any remaining stains.

7. For larger items like mattresses:
- Spray with a dilute household bleach solution and allow it to dry, or use Greased Lightning.
- Protect your bed with soft, noiseless waterproof covers, such as crib pads or modern waterproof mattress protectors, which you can find on Amazon.

These tips should help you manage those tough stains and keep your clothes looking fresh.
