Outgrowing My Hernia Belts - Seeking Recommendations

This topic is about finding better-fitting support options for someone who has had a urostomy for two years. They have outgrown their current hernia belts and are not satisfied with their current urostomy pouch, which doesn't fit well and reduces the bag's capacity. They are seeking advice on alternative belts and pouching systems. Here are some helpful suggestions:

1. Request samples: Reach out to your supply representative or directly to manufacturers to get trial samples of different pouching systems and support garments before making a purchase.

2. Alternative pouch: Consider trying the Coloplast SenSura Mio Soft Convex, 1-piece, pre-cut, Maxi, Opaque, 25 mm. It has been reported to work well, and U.S. Coloplast can provide equivalent product numbers.

3. Support garments and belts:
- Nu-Hope offers a variety of ostomy and hernia belts that might provide a better fit.
- Pregnancy or maternity support belts are a budget-friendly option, costing around $16 for three online. These can be modified, such as cutting a hole for the pouch, and some models have a silicone strip to help keep them in place.
- Comfizz support wear is recommended for firm, bottom-up support.

4. Products to approach with caution:
- Corsinel StomaSafe has soft fabric and an inner skin layer, but some users find it doesn't support the weight of a filling urostomy pouch well, allowing the bag to hang and roll up without a silicone grip.

5. Practical tips:
- If using a belly band (tube-top style), you can fold the end of the pouch into the band for added discretion.
- Layer similar support garments for extra stability: use one band with a cut-out for the pouch and another over it.
