Red Blood During Cleaning: Is It Normal?

This topic is about noticing red blood while cleaning a stoma and wondering if it's a normal occurrence. Here are some helpful insights and advice from the community:

1. It's common to see a small amount of blood when wiping or cleaning the stoma because the stoma is highly vascular and delicate.

2. Stoma granules, which are nodules of healing tissue, can bleed easily during appliance changes.

3. The bleeding should be light. If you notice a lot of bleeding, it might mean you're being too rough, so try to handle the stoma more gently.

4. Some people have never experienced bleeding, but they find it reassuring to know that it can happen, so they won't be alarmed if it occurs in the future.
