Pouch Deodorant Alternatives - Share Your Tips!

Good morning. I ran out of the lubricating deodorant I use in my pouch, so I did a search to find an alternative until my order arrived. Thought I would share. Here are some things to put in the pouch:· Mouthwash· Hydrogen peroxide· Essential oil drops· Baking soda· Mints like TicTacs· 2 Aspirin tablets· Toothpaste· 1/4th to 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon Other than putting things in your pouch:· Drink a glass of cranberry juice each day· Chopped spinach, eaten once or twice a week helps eliminate odor· Pepto-Bismol is an effective deodorant. Take 1 tablet immediately after meals.· Eat parsley to eliminate odor. I would love to hear what other folks are doing.

Has anyone tried mineral oil? Or heard of any ill effects using it as a lubricant?

I put an Altoid mint in the bottom of the bag after emptying it. I have an ileostomy and yes, there can be odor, enough to make me gag.

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions, messages, and tips! So many have helped! We are learning as we go, learning the ins and outs of this bag. I have ordered special tape that does not irritate my skin and am now using Domeboro powder before putting on a new bag. My boyfriend says that my skin is so much less red!

Saw an ostomy nurse today; she said my boyfriend is doing everything right. One of my issues is that I am really thin, and my skin is really crinkly due to the surgery. We shall see how this bag goes.

This site is a real blessing. Everyone here is so awesome!

Were you able to find a good alternative for deodorant/lube? Low on mine, scheduled for reversal next week and unsure if I can get more in the meantime.
