Yup, and that's why I named mine my "Life Button" because without him, I'd be dead. I love him dearly! ❣️

Love the name! Haha. I had my surgery 9 months ago and named my ostomy Winnie. From Winnie the Pooh 💩 😂

After I got my ostomy I found this site and got a lifetime membership. I have had so much help from the core members, things that even the wound care nurses didn't know. If you haven't been through this journey you don't know - only the people that have experienced this first hand truly understand what your going through. The support is enormously helpful getting through this. Afterwards when you start to learn how to deal with this new normal you can begin to help others.  ...mtnman.

Yes, TULIPS (two-lips)

The first time I saw it, it reminded me of Mick Jagger's lips and his logo.

I did because the stools looked like prunes. So say hello to my little friend Prunella.

Mine is called Stanley. It helped to normalize it for my children and to blame him for any noises, etc.…

Having Stanley saved my life; therefore, I feel he (it) deserves a name, even if he is part of me.

I was always embarrassed when my ostomy would emit gas and gurgle! 'When he did it, I would say, "Say, Little Buddy!" and always called him that. -Captain Jonas Grumby

Hi all

Yes, I have named my stoma a name that I couldn't put out on screen

Because of all the problems I have suffered with the damn thing

I hate it and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It's nothing but a pain.

Hahahaha 😂

But did it save your life?

Meet my stoma: Fiona.

Mine was great for the first year and a half, and I get so much pain with my Reggie one. I have days where I am not friends with him, but it did save my life, and you should be grateful you are still here. Not being rude or anything, but I have had severe IBS and cyclical vomiting syndrome for 26 years and still do now. With my stomas, I have two: a mucus one as well, who is Ronnie, and he had infections in him too. So, not plain sailing, but I got to meet my first granddaughter. Much sympathy, and keep positive; it helps. xxx I now have three other things: CDK 3A kidney disease and SMA, which is something to do with my artery in my stomach. So, a lot, but I have to keep going, not quitting. xxx

Mine's a bit "unconventional"; it's Keir Stoma (after the guy who is now our Prime Minister in the UK!), lol! At the time, he hadn't been elected but was the leader of the Labour Party standing against the incumbent Tories. The name was a joke, really, but reflected how I feel about my stoma - I have very mixed feelings about Keir Starmer and feel the same about my stoma! He's annoying and tedious, kind of weird and shiny looking, often full of s**t. I'd really rather not have him if I could help it, but he's better than the alternative (in Starmer's case, better than the Tories; in the case of my stoma, poorly controlled Crohn's).

When my stoma farts, I get to say "shut up, Keir," which is quite satisfying!

(Apologies if this post is a bit "political" for this forum; it's kind of hard to avoid the politics in explaining why it's called that!!)

Mine is Stella also, so I can scream her name when she's so unpredictable and blame her for making noises in public.

I was granted my colostomy bag on January 30th of this year. We have definitely had adventures in the last few months.

Yes, mine does have a name. Her name is Sweet Cheeks. There have been laughter and tears during this time, but I wouldn't change it. I can laugh and joke about it, and this has helped others in my family see that it's not something to be ashamed of. I do have other family members that just take life way too seriously.

To everyone out there going through our new adventures in this crazy thing called life, keep smiling and laughing. I promise you it's going to be OK.

Have a great day,

LaWanda and Sweet Cheeks

Mine is called Kyle after an a-hole I used to work with. Oh my, Kyle is so much more functional than that guy was. Now I have two a-holes working hard for me.

I have “twins” and named them both. My liquid stoma is Poppy, and my solid stoma is Rose—because if you squint and look at it from the right angle, she does sort of look like a rose! Giving them pretty names helped me befriend them for life. And if Rose makes a rude noise, I have a name to blame!  🤣

I named my ileostomy 'Britney' when I was still in the hospital because she was a hot mess. I also have a mucus fistula which I named 'Stoma Jean'.

My oldest daughter said I needed to name mine Scott (after their dad) because he's always full of s%&*. 🤣🤷‍♀️ Her words, not mine.

Hi LaWanda and Sweet Cheeks... you are so right... my Myrtie (stoma) saved my life... it's part of me and you either accept it or be miserable... I refuse to live the rest of my life being miserable or woe is me! I'm very open about my ileostomy and if anybody has questions... I am very happy to answer them... good luck on this journey!

"Stella, I could have been a contender" - Brando

Audrey Warren

I already answered this. Stella (yes, Brando is a factor, but alliterative too).

I did it because I can easily refer to Stella when referring her to friends or family. Some will even ask me, "How's Stella?"

I called my first one BOB, which was short for "bl**dy obnoxious bowel." It sort of stuck.

Meet Sadie the stoma. She's very pretty, even if I say so myself. But she's kind and long-suffering, although she has been known to fart loudly in public. We get on very well. I felt it helped for her not to be an alien.
