Any suggestions on how to tackle a fast transit time along with a watery output?

For watery output, I recommend cheese and crackers, bananas, and honestly, Rice Krispy treats. They all seem to thicken up output for me.

As far as motility goes, I have the slowest transit time ever, so I can't help there.

Best of luck in finding relief.

You are so right.  I will never forget this website and the people who have helped me.  I had my reversal in January of 2014.  I try and come on this website weekly to see if I can help or encourage other individuals get through the day-to-day process of life.

Peanut butter! Slows me right down.

How much peanut butter do I need to slow down transit time?

Start with one peanut butter and jelly sandwich on white bread and see how it treats your output and adjust from there. If I eat a PBJ along with my banana and cheese and crackers (extra sharp cheddar and Triscuits), my output thickens right up. I usually have about 5-10 cracker cuts of cheese with 10-20 Triscuits. Of course, for some, this would be too much, but it is just right for me. Also, I eat 3 bananas a day.

Abe,

Do you have an ileostomy?

If so, how do you think about the output?

Yes, I have an ileostomy. I don't understand your question.

I would guess it varies from person to person, but I tend to have thick output and, without drinking lots of water, slow transit time anyway. For me, just a healthy layer of peanut butter on one piece of toast will do it. We are all different, though. Someone here said bread or milk works for them, but that is not the case for me. You need to experiment. Bananas also work for me, and one is all I would need. Another thing that has not been mentioned, but many swear by, is marshmallows. I can't vouch for that, as I hate the things and have found better alternatives! Good luck!

Up to eight loperamide a day and lots of psyllium husk powder before meals (2 to 3 teaspoons mixed in a few ounces of water). Also, limit water intake during meals and use HCL/pepsin with digestive enzymes. Avoid bromelain as it will eat your stoma. All the best, and I hope you get that output thickened up!
