Hi all,
I have had my colostomy for about a year and a half now and have had problems with it closing up, had two revisions and have had a stricture that has gotten worse. This along with the severe motility due to CES has caused me to be on TPN. My docs and everyone else say I should just get the entire large bowel out. Today I a had a test where they tried to put a clear nuclear dye through the stoma and none could get past the stricture. I also had a colonoscopy and they could not get the scope past the stricture to complete the test. Has anyone had this type of problem before? If so what did you do our your doctor recommend?  I think at this point I am ready to just get the large bowel out so I can get off the TPN and be able to eat again and be relieved of the pain eventually.  Also do you know if you can flush an ileostomy.  I would really appreciate any input you could give.
Thanks,
Maryland Gal

Hi Maryland Gal,

Dr. Shinya (who helped develop the colonoscope) and Dr. Batmanghelidj have done extensive research on colon health and healing. They both agree on the importance of proper hydration, and Dr. Shinya uses electro-negative water as part of his healing protocol with all of his patients. I can email you some PDF pages from Dr. Batmanghelidj's book "You're Not Sick You're Thirsty!" if your local library does not have a copy.

Salua,

Every morning when I enjoy my big cup of coffee I scroll through this site and this warm feeling just overwhelms me.

I never post anything (too shy and it feels like I don’t have anything of interest to share tbh) but I sure read a lot of posts from you guys and they are so informative, supportive encouraging and so so full of love and a big dose of humor.

I feel like part of the best family in the world (even though I am just sitting quietly in the corner lol).

I just wanted to share that feeling and say thanks to all of you for being so wonderful.

And also, please keep some fingers crossed for me this week. I have my blood test on Thursday, checking my CA 125 levels. Ovarian cancer reoccurrence fear unlocked again. I hate it!

Lots of love from Sweden

Hello ic, I have not heard of these particular methods and how they can help with strictures, but if you can give me more info that would be great.  Thanks for the help.

hi i have been in part off your shoes. i had my colon removed at 40yrs old. than 3 months had permanent ileostomy put in. i have a a very bad sticture, when the surgeon went to put the illleostomy. because off severe scar tissue and a blockage on top off the stricture, ne eneded up removing more off my bowell. so now 5 and half years later. my stoma behaves and the illeostomy is the best quality off life i got. my diet is strict, for i severe mortility issues, and what complicates my casw is i cant do any tpe off drugs for i am allergic to almost everything. so i i have been become a pro at handling my body and the care off my stoma and illeum. i just recently had my rectum and everything removed in that area due to a ichemia type colitis that was causing me major problems where my rectal stum was. so i hope this can help you. if you need more advice just write and i will try to help you. good luck.

Hello Maryland...just saw your post on my email and thought I'd respond. I had a major stricture, about 5 cms, right below my stoma and I have an ileostomy. After a few years of chronic blockages, I decided to have surgery last October. The doctors were able to 'pull' my small gut from the stoma end upwards and basically cut the stricture below out and gave me a new stoma...all without cutting my abdomen open! So, I feel very fortunate and it relieved my trouble with blockages. I don't know if any of this is helpful with your situation, but thought it couldn't hurt to share. Can't the doctors just remove the strictured area and not your whole colon? Good luck to you and hope all works out for you. Take care. Pattycake
