Well, we went to Acadia National Park yesterday to do some bike riding on their carriage trails. The park is a national treasure in our own state, but it has been many years since we have been there, not since we started bike riding.
I had a problem with the ostomy right there at the Visitors Center before we got started. I haven't had an issue out in public like that for a long time. But ten minutes in the public restroom sorted it out - though it made me see that with the trend towards blow dryers, we really have to double-check for paper towels in our vehicles before embarking on an adventure!
But we had a great day of riding - even though it seemed like we were going uphill 90% of the time! Certainly when we went up Day Mountain, the only mountain that is accessible by the no-cars-allowed carriage trails. I guess with 17 mountains on the little island, there would naturally be a lot of hilly biking. But there were great views to be had again and again.
We may not go there again real soon, however. We have a lot of bike trails and paths we want to try out here in Maine and New England, and they are all free and probably less crowded. It was a great day, however, once I got past the ostomy accident. Poo happens.
