Well, after having an appointment for pre-op for stent removal after my hysterectomy went so wrong, involving kidney damage and a bowel being killed and an ileo fitted, the nurse started her questions for pre-op. "Do you think you could be pregnant?" "Mmm, no, I have no womb or ovaries." "Oh, right. Next, are your bowels working okay?" "Mmm, no, I poop in a bag." "Have you any blood infections?" "Well, I had two blood transfusions, so I don't know..." Do you think they look at your notes at all? She told me a date for the op, and this morning I got a letter saying another date, lol.

Hi lol, sounds so familiar, all those questions. I can relate to what you're saying. Don't think notes are really read properly by anyone. Good thing we know more about ourselves than some of the professionals. TC, ambies.

I’d like to write a nice review
that might express something quite new.
Then I read previous points of view,
which said the things I wanted to.
I would endorse the things I’ve read
about what other folks have said,
for these are the benefits and things
that joining a site like this can bring.
When I was an initiate, (novice)
it seemed to be appropriate
to express myself in rhyme
as this is how I spend my time.
When contemplating what to write
with contributing to this site,
it seemed to me, my ostomy
could be expressed in poetry.
Thus, when I had something to say,
a rhyme, for me seemed the best way,
for rhymes can often capture stuff
that prose don’t capture quite enough.
I do appreciate the way,
this site lets people have their say
in whatever mode they will
about the things that make them ill.
There are not many forums for
discussing stuff most folks abhor.
So, this site fulfils a small niche,
where angst and problems can unleash.
Where raw emotions can decant,
so, folks feel free to have a rant,
and we can all associate
is something I appreciate.

I really hate the question, "Could you possibly be pregnant?" especially after I just finished telling them that I had cervical cancer and during the hysterectomy the doctor nicked my bowels. I feel like saying, "Yes! There is a minuscule chance in fucking hell that I could be pregnant after a radical hysterectomy, salpingectomy, and oophorectomy;" however, I am very polite and simply respond with a quiet no... :(

OMG girls, let's do it. I'm waiting for pre-admin in 100,000 years, but when they ask me, I'm going to say yes, 9 months, then get all excited and say, "Aww, do you think I'm having a girl or boy?" Hahaha, then they tick the part about having mental issues; probably wouldn't bother asking that one. OMG, I have to do it... but it's called Protocol One. One nurse actually changed the part about how much I smoked. Like, how many a day? I said 7, she said, "How about we double that?" (She was a smoker too.) I cracked up so much I had tears. Hahaha, I mean, what if I did have only 7 a day? HMMMMM... :) Thanks, honestly, I'm going to say 9 months, bugger it, I just won't get the baby bonus. LOLOL XXXXX

When I went through my numerous operations and the pre-op questions, they always asked me if I could be pregnant. No, I told them I had radiation and was sterilized. No matter... I had to pee in a cup and do a pregnancy test for them. Standard practice for any woman under the age of 50. After 50, they believed you. I wonder what the cost to the hospital was for all those useless pregnancy tests?
