Have had such a nice day with my partner today; it's been the best day in quite a while. So we made arrangements to go out with a couple of friends this evening. Before going, I was checking all my bits, bags, and wound dressings, etc., and I noticed my wound could do with changing. Luckily, I've got an appointment to see the nurse tomorrow to get it done. Now, whenever I go out, I always take spare bags, wipes, etc., but never thought to take wound dressings with me! Turns out I probably should have! Yup, it started to leak out the bottom; luckily, it was at the end of the meal, so we were about to come home anyway. Changed it myself with a bit of help from the other half when we got back; not too impressed with the damn thing lately! Keeps leaking, so I'm starting to suspect that it could be infected. Gotta have a word with the nurse tomorrow! Hopefully, she can help me out so no more wound leaks! Don't want to have to worry about that as well!!!! AAAhhhh, rant over now :)

I had the same thing happen. What type of bags do you use? I went through three bags in two days because they wouldn't stick, or they leaked. I think they were simply faulty, but I'm extremely careful now with putting on barrier rings and using Nexcare waterproof flexible tape—lovely stuff keeps the water from the adhesive so the bag stays on longer. As for your wounds, I'm a bit confused. You mean your stoma or your scar?

Angelica- As usual, you've written another interesting post. February 5th, 2019, was my reversal surgery after having an ileo for 6 months. I'm one of those fortunate success stories. Of course, things are different now, and I still have to be careful about what and how much I eat, as I don't have a colon. At first, I was afraid to leave the house. My biggest fear was having to use a public bathroom and have the toilet not flush! Even now, when I know that I'll be in someone else's home, I won't eat anything beforehand. I read other people's stories and sometimes feel guilty for having had it so easy, not to mention that I have a significant other who is 100 percent supportive. I've gotten so much out of this website and truly feel for those of you who have it so much worse than I. But I feel it necessary to let folks hear about the success stories.

Hi, yeah, I tend to find that sometimes a bag will stick really well and hold nicely, and other days it just won't. It seems to vary a lot even though I put them on the same! Where I had three ops, my wound is taking a long time to heal and is still open. It's right next to the stoma, so the bag overlaps the top of the wound dressing. So whenever the wound dressing is changed, I need to change my bag as well because we have to peel it off. Equally, when I change my stoma bag, sometimes it's stuck to the wound dressing and peels that off with it. x

Hello Sophie96. Thanks for sharing this. It is when I get to know what others have to put up with that I considerably diminish feeling too sorry for myself. Thus, you post is 'therapeutic' in that it makes me feel as though I should just get on with life and think myself lucky that I have one to get on with. Best wishes Bill
