Is It Safe to Use a Smaller Stoma Barrier?

If I don't have any other supplies, is it okay for me to put a barrier that is smaller than my stoma? It's only about .25 inch smaller, but I don't have any of the supplies that fit, just supplies I ordered when it was smaller.

By barrier, do you mean the ring? The "O" ring? Or the flange that holds the bag as a two-piece?

The O ring should be stretchable. The flange could be cut to fit in an emergency.

Also, if you give the stoma time, it might reduce its size to fit your supply.

Cut the hole bigger. And thatโ€™s why I always get cut to fit things, never know when you need to adjust something.

The barrier ring should stretch. If you mean the wafer cut it bigger. You don't want to strangle your stoma. That would not be good.

Yes, I agree. One should be able to cut the hole to fit the stoma. But if for some reason one cannot, that can't be a good thing.

Please, let us know that you succeeded.
