Hi. I am wondering if anyone is a member of this group, and if so, is it helpful? Thanks.

Yes, I have been for years. The journals they post have some useful information about ostomy products, health advice, and exercise. They have members' stories too if you like that sort of thing. It depends on where you live; a lot of the groups have local meet-ups so you can meet people in person. They're always good for a chat and a laugh and to pick up some tips. Some have their own Facebook groups. They have one-on-one volunteer members you can speak to if you need any support or advice. I always enjoy the meet-ups myself; I have met some really nice people and made friends through it.

Great place for newbies to learn, I have helped many folks on here learn to irrigate, plus learned a few tricks myself. Great informative site.

Hi, I'm a member and I think it's useful if there is a local support group near where you live. Lots of them have several meet-ups throughout the year, which are useful to talk with others while having a coffee or lunch. It's best to check their website to see if they have a group fairly close by first. To me, that's the main reason I joined.

Hi Ben38

Thank you for replying. Much appreciated. Sounds like it will be worth joining, then. The meet-ups sound like they could be good fun as well as supportive.

Thank you!

Hi Dowdena. Thank you for this. Ben38 said the same about the meet-ups. I'll go and check their website and see where might be closest for me.

Many thanks 😊

You're welcome.

They let you know whenever any of the ostomy companies are having events near you as well.

That's useful to know as well, Ben38. Always good to get hands-on new style bags!

Hi, I haven't seen that site, but the Facebook site for Crohn's and Colitis UK Forum is good. You could also try the Stoma Support Group site. It seems to be difficult to meet or find anyone north of the central belt in Scotland!

I'm a branch chair for one of the local groups, trying to get it restarted as there is nothing really much else locally for people living with ostomies.

IA has groups in Scotland. Maybe worth checking that out :)
