I'm looking for suggestions on the Convatec Natura colostomy system

I've had my colostomy since 2008-2009 and use Convatec's Natura+ two-piece drainable system with 2" Durapore "waterproof" tape around the perimeter. The tape provides some additional adhesion and time of containment against leaks. I've found that system to be the most convenient and easiest to use. I really like the snap-off, snap-on flanges.

However, I find that the Convatec wafer's tape, by itself, often does not adhere well, allowing the colloidal ring to fail. Also, I must change the setup every time I shower, as the system is not waterproof. I am unable to swim. Otherwise, the setup can last up to a week. Has anyone who uses the Natura system found a better way around water?

G-Day Gene 9400,

I can only tell you about my system. I use the Hollister two-piece drainable bag 18182 and convex base 11503, and I have never had any problems when showering or swimming. I don't need to use extended tapes around the perimeter. Why don't you ask Hollister to send you a sample and give it a go?

Regards, IGGIE

Hi Gene! I also use ConvaTec, and I love it! The flange I use is model number 404594, and the bag I use is model number 416420. This is a 2-piece ConvaTec moldable system.

Most of the time, unless I have a leak, which is rare, I can keep this 2-piece pouching system on for 7 days. I'm able to shower in it and go swimming. There's a sticker to put over the filter when showering or swimming.
