Has anyone considered it or gone through it? I'm to the point I don't have enough left to reverse this ever. But transplant seems like trading regular hospital visits for more regular visits plus pain and strict anti-rejection medication regimen. Can it be worth it?

Bubblegum, if you're comfortable with your stoma, stay with it. Once you're used to it, it's easy and requires no more surgery.

Thank you so much, bigal1579. I think I will wait awhile on the cherries and sauerkraut. LOL. I have gotten some good advice. Thanks to all that have replied. I sure am happy that I stumbled onto this website.

That's how I feel too. It's been 10 years for me. Don't want to throw a wrench in the works.

Bubblegum, I used to think about this all the time when I was suffering from UC. I even asked my surgeon about it, but it was met with a no. We'd probably end up with complications needing meds to control them and feel like we're right back where we started, so I suppose that's one reason to not even consider something like that.

Guess it depends on how comfortable you are with hospitals, docs, nurses, meds, pain, frustration, and homesickness. jb

Each ostomate's situation is unique, so it's hard to give advice about this. I chose to stay with my ileostomy, although a reversal is/was possible. After looking into the possible outcomes, I'm fine with the status quo. My life is so much better than it was pre-ostomy, so why mess with a good thing?
