I was informed Ptistiq only comes in extended release. It is absorbed in the small intestines. I have an ileostomy; do you

think it will work for me? Please advise.

Sustained release but absorbed in the small intestine?

I'd confirm with a pharmacist that absorption is small intestine only. I associate sustained release with medications at least partially absorbed by the large intestine, which you do not have.

While talking to a pharmacist, I'd check their recommendations for ileostomy use. They might not know right off, but they should be able to research for an answer.

Also, do you still have your entire small intestine, or did you lose a significant portion? That would affect your ability to absorb it as well.

You might consider Effexor, which I think comes as an immediate release and may be similar. Talk to your doctor about the medication choice.

I was a fly on the wall for a while, before I joined the group.  I think you will find it's a good bunch of people, who understand what you are dealing with like no one else could.  Glad you found us.
