Hello, I had to have an end colostomy formed as my bowel didn't heal after extensive surgery and got sepsis, so a week later - back to surgery. Yes, I was in that 5%🙄 Then, because of my cancer treatment, I had to wait to recover and remain in remission for at least a year and a half. And here I am! Because of my previously cheeky bowel, my surgeon stated that a two-stage reversal will be the safest option for me. They will create a temporary ileostomy and completely rejoin my plumbing after 3 months to give time for the large intestine to heal. It all makes sense; in all fairness, I am fit and well for the surgeries. They did not remove a lot of my bowel, so once things settle, I should be able to achieve new manageable habits.

Few people have told me that the ileostomy will be much harder to manage😬 almost all of my usual foods will be off-limits!?! I am very worried that this new diet will impact my healing properly! I simply feel poorly when only having white pasta, bread, and sweets! Help! Any advice and guidance would be much appreciated!

Hello! The diet for me has been very limited. I do eat a lot of chicken and try to come up with creative ways to cook it! Same with rice. Ground beef works pretty well for me, as well as ground pork. Hopefully, this helps!

Hi Frankie, after my surgeries, I craved pasta with meat sauce. I wouldn't eat much at first, but I would reheat some later. I also made fruit smoothies.
