Would like to discuss reversals of ileostomies. A little over two years ago I had a reversal of an ileostomy due to rectal cancer. The surgeon remover my rectum and some of the sphincter muscles associated with the rectum. After the reversal I have had nothing but leaks and bouts of constipation. I was ill-informed that doing Kegal exercises would help but alas they did not help. I even had the problem of a slipped disc in my spine due to over straining to have a BM. I was informed last year that there is a new procedure that uses a pace-maker type of appliance that keeps the anus closed until you have to have a BM thus eliminating fecal incontinence. Has anyone had this type of surgery (appliance) implanted in them and was it successful? If you have any information on this or any other method to eliminate fecal incontinence, seepage, I would greatly appreciate it.

I just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a good holiday. I especially would like to thank this website and the folks that run it and keep it going. This site has been a life saver for me and I am so thankful I found it. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and Hanukka and if you don't claim either holiday, I hope you have a nice day. See you all next year!
