Does any one have a ostomy (colostomy or illeostomy) bag due to scleroderma?
I wonder how the progression of the illness affects the chance of reversal.

any thoughts??

Is there a connection? I believe that scleroderma is an autoimmune destruction of the connective tissue and it does affect the skin and other organ systems. I have not heard of it leading to an ostomy, however.

I just wanted to take the time to wish everyone a good holiday. I especially would like to thank this website and the folks that run it and keep it going. This site has been a life saver for me and I am so thankful I found it. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and Hanukka and if you don't claim either holiday, I hope you have a nice day. See you all next year!

Yup - there is a connection - the connective tissues produce too much collegan...hence producing scar tissue. this interferes with the peristalic waves needed for proper movement in the gi track. i have/had problems from esophagus to anus.................lost about 4 out of 5 feet of colon....small intestine not connected to small bit of colon (yet).....i was just hoping someone had been reconnected that had scleroderma.
