Had colon and rectum removed due to colitis, now have illeostomy for 3 yrs.  Need a prostate biopsy due to a high psa # and a suspicious area shown on an MRI. Doc can't go thru anus, but can stick a needle around the perineal area  to get to prostste.. Has anyone ever had a prostate biopsy like this??

Hi NOguy. I have not, but two friends have. Another had it done through the urethra. I guess it's going to be uncomfortable for a while, but the good news is all three are over it with no evidence of the big C.

I am scheduled for my reversal on 12/4. All my pre-admin stuff is completed and my GI signed off on the clearance letter this morning. I am super excited and looking forward to not having a bag. I just hope all goes well and heals well so I don't wake up with a temp bag which will lead to yet another surgery.

I have learned a lot from this website and will continue to be on here even after surgery. To all the ostomates out there, keep your heads up and keep pressing forward. We all have good and bad days. Best of luck to you all.

I will be sure to post my progress after surgery. I'm praying for you all.

Hi. Get a second opinion about entering through the anal area I have had an ileosyomy 46yrs and recently going through the same - high psa and mri found spot on the prostate. The biopsy was done by the mri doc who did enter through an opening where the rectal segment was removed.

Hope things go well and all is good with your biopsy. Also hope this helps.  Tom
